Program Overview
At its core, environmental health is a natural component of healthcare’s mission to provide safe, quality, compassionate and cost effective care.
Weaving the Threads of Environmental Health into Daily Management Operations is a program offered by Maryland Hospitals for a Healthy Environment (MD H2E). It is designed for emerging healthcare leaders who are interested in gaining new perspectives on environmental health practices as well as expanding their capacity to recognize, and create positive, forward-looking strategies to help transform their facility into a driving force that optimizes the well-being of employees, enhances the care of patients, and leads their surrounding community to a sustainable and desirable future.
Participants will learn what environmental health and sustainability mean, how to reduce the use of toxic chemicals for patient and staff safety, how to save money and reduce waste, and how to examine food consumption practices in an effort to increase the amount of environmentally friendly foods available to patients and staff.
